She is the daughter of Kosovo Albanian parents Anesa Rexha and Dukagjin Lipa. Dua Lipa is Bosnian heritage via the maternal grandparents of her. Her ancestors also come from the Kosovo town Peja. Lipa's grandfathers were both historians. Her siblings are Rina Gjin and Gjin. Lipa was taught to play guitar and sing with her father Oda.
